Charling Tao

Member of the Advisory Council

Born in 1955 in Taiwan, she grew up in France, Zaire, and Lebanon, studied in Paris, Harvard, Chicago, and Oxford. She is the proud mother of two girls (a lawyer and an architect) and grand-mother of two boys.

Charling shares her time between Beijing and Marseilles, and whatever places her profession (cosmologist and particle physicist) and activism (peace, human rights, development, environment) require. She is also trained as a Gestalt-therapist.
Humanity today is in danger, but there might be hope if we act immediately. Eco-system Restoration Camps is a wonderful way to involve everyone in the restoration of the Earth’s environments, cultures and people.

She is a founding member of:

– Women in Black-Marseilles, a feminist peace movement
– Kuizin, a local canteen which teaches neighbourhood people to cook and eat healthy food,
– AMAP La Roustide, the first association in Marseilles that supports farmers and distributes
weekly vegetables and fruit to city dwellers.
– The Weather Makers with a restoration and peace project in the Sinai

She is on the advisory board of EEMP (Environmental Education Media Project) and also a volunteer with Medecins du Monde, to visit and support people who live in the streets of the city of Marseilles.
